Tatum and the Winners Walk of Hope

Tatum And The Winners Walk of Hope

Happy Grandparent’s Day!  Sunday September 7, 2008.

And what better way to celebrate this wonderful day than to walk in support and increasing awareness for Ovarian Cancer!

Tatum had another eventful Sunday.  With last week in Milton at the Women’s Only Triathlon, this Sunday, Grandparent’s Day, Tatum participated in a mini Winners Walk of Hope in support of increasing awareness for Ovarian Cancer.

In preparation for the walk, Tatum had to make sure that he was dressed for the occasion.  He needed to get his teddy bear t-shirt embossed with the Winners Walk of Hope logo, so he asked his friendly embroidery person to help him out.  She was so kind and helpful and had it all ready for him well in advance of the walk.

The next thing that Tatum had to do was to make sure that his owner had her t-shirt, so he suggested that she go and pick it up the day before the walk.  Here is Tatum driving home in the car with his owner’s t-shirt, close at hand.

The day of the walk was a bit cloudy and wet, but it certainly did not dampen the spirits of the volunteers, sponsors and walkers. Before Tatum started his walk, he made a new friend, Theo.

Theo is short for Theodore, and his owner gave Tatum permission to have their picture taken together knowing that it would appear online. Tatum and Theo did not walk together because Theo’s owner had shorter legs, and Tatum’s owner seems to like walking fast!

Although Tatum did not personally meet his MP (Member of Parliament), Patrick Brown, he got close enough to get a picture of him talking to the crowd.

Tatum walked the 5km walk and his fur was pretty frazzled by the time he got back to the car to come home.

As a momento, he received a beautiful sunflower, as a symbol of the walk and hope that a cure will be found for Ovarian Cancer.
